Granddaddy

Granddaddy passed away yesterday evening. I cannot be at the funeral but I want to just share a little bit about my Granddaddy here.

Good Christian
Respected man
Admired by all
Never to busy for those he loved
Devoted husband, father, grandfather
Devout Christian
Always ready to give a hand
Dearly loved
Daily being a role-moodel for everyone around him
You will be missed!

Ganddaddy, you will be dearly missed by so many, by me. I really wish I could have been there with you and Nanny and the rest of the family as you made your journey home.

My fondest memories of Granddaddy:
- The long pre-dinner blessings!

- Taboo!!!!!! BEEEEP!

- Oh heck and shang-hi

- One time I was so confused and lost spiritually after a religion (anti-religion more like) class at Ole Miss. I was balling my eyes out sitting on the carpeted stairs behind the pulpit after church, I thought hidden from all. Granddaddy came and knelt by me and held me. He had no idea what was wrong and he never asked but he hugged me and just told me everything would be ok.

- the kids wanted me to talk about the IHOP breakfasts on the mornings before we return to France. They are really going to miss that special time. RĂ©mi wanted me to add that "Gaga was a good man". The truth comes from the mouth of babes.

I also want to take the time here to thank everyone in the family for including us in the emails about the arrangements and in the service even though we can't be there in person. Thank you for understanding that even though we are not there physically, we are with you in our hearts and in you are in our prayers.

I'm so sorry, Becca. Your family will continue to be in my prayers. It sounds like your granddaddy was truly a wonderful man, who is going "home."

Becca - I am SO sorry about "Grandaddy". I feel like I can call him that too. In a weird way! Your family (all of them) have always been wonderful to me. They always treated me like I was one of their girls. You are very lucky to be a part of such a great family. Please let "Nanny" and everyone else know that I am very sorry for their loss. He will be greatly missed! I love you! And I KNOW your family understands!

Becca
We miss you dearly and I think of you all the time. I'll hug Nanny and your sisters for you today; a day that will be one of the hardest of my life.
Love
Charles (charlie to you, missy!)

Becca,
I went to the visitation last night. I just wanted you to know that your family understands why you can't be there. And they all know that if you could, you would.
